New Life Foundation Projects - Ban Kamala Village School

The site of Ban Kamala Primary School. This is all that remained following the savage waters of the tsunami. As you can see, not a single brick was left standing.
Ban Kamala Primary & Secondary School was completely destroyed by the tsunami which hit Kamala beach on 26th December 2004. Phuket Christian Centre has co-ordinated the re-building of one of the main buildings of the school. Our aim is not simply to re-build, but also to provide additional facilities and resources for the children.

This depends on the amount of money raised. Already we have been able to present 18,000,000 baht to His Majesty the King for the rebuilding of the school. Good progress is being made with the construction and we hope to see everything completed by February 2005. Please check out our photos below which tell the story of the school up to the present stage of construction.

Should you feel that you would like to help us in our efforts to re-build the lives of the children of Kamala please contact us.

Thank you.

The main building was directly adjacent to the shore and, as a result, took the full force of the tsunami.

The children of the school attend a party hosted by the Phuket Christian Centre on January 6th. Many of these children lost their homes and members of their families.
