One of the three villages on the island of Phra Thong was
destroyed by the tsunami. Many of the villagers perished,
but thankfully some were rescued by boat. Both Thai people
and Morgen Tribe people were affected. They were relocated
to the mainland in temporary wooden housing. Even though
many homes survived the waves, the school was completely
destroyed and the fresh water supply polluted. Phuket Christian
Centre has built up a deep trust with the Morgen people of
this island, and they relate to us better than any other group.
We are commited to helping this village recover.

Pastor Brian spends time with some of the survivors (and two
dogs who were also rescued by boat!). The church has maintained
a regular contact with these people and plan to help in the long-term
restoration of the island community.

Hygiene is paramount in controlling the spread of disease. Village
children help volunteers from the church to clean up the camp.

The younger children do not attend school and have lost all their toys.
Boredom is a problem and so Pastor Nok and Ice entertain the children
with action songs!

Amidst the tragedy, it is good to see the children smile. Little Hiew
(in pink) proved to be a real star!
