Shortly after the Tsunami our attention was drawn to the district of Thai Muang in
Phang Nga Province. In co-operation with the local government we have been involved
with helping children who suffered hardship as a result of the disaster at the end
of 2004.
Two years on we are still working hard to raise the standards of education and
welfare for these children, many of whom lost family members to the Tsunami.
Many people from overseas have given generously to support these projects, but we
are particularly grateful for the help received from the Riseley, Swallowfield &
Farley Hill Charitable Trust, without them none of the following projects would have
been possible. It is wonderful to know that some of the schools that have donated to
this charity are helping the schools in Thai Muang in this way.
Thai Muang Adventure Playground
Completed in 2005, this was our first project to give the children
in the town somewhere to play safely.

Thai Muang Nursery School
This has been ongoing for over 18 months and is finally nearing completion. The
NLF has reconstructed an old municipal building with the co-operation of the
local council and added children's toilets, and a kitchen and dining room. The
Local Education Authority will supply the teachers. All that remains to be done
is to equip the school and bring in the children.

Over the past 2 years we have been able to install a basketball court, football
pitch and an open-air lunch area for people to sit and eat while watching the game.
